Florida’s Department of State describes the certified birth records it accepts, including a record issued by the Bureau of Vital Statistics with the state registrar’s signature. See its official accepted-document list.
Other states
A birth record from another state normally follows the procedure of that state’s competent authority. A Florida notary cannot turn a photocopy of another state’s vital record into a Florida birth certificate.
Destination requirements
Check whether the recipient needs a recent certified copy, a translation, and an apostille. Obtain the correct copy first, then estimate official processing and shipping separately.
